After spending 10 days in Sri Lanka, we decided to explore and spend a day in Galle.

Here are my 8 best things to do in Galle, Sri Lanka. To extend your day trip, why not jump into a TukTuk and have a guide show you around! But be careful to negotiate prices first, they may typically offer you a tour for £14 - £20.

1) Visit the Galle Fort - Packed with history, this world heritage site on UNESCO is not one to miss.

2) Visit the Dutch Reformed Church. There are many visitors and tourists. You may be able to get a picture or two outside, but be respectful and don't take photos / videos inside. Instead have a moment with God (even if you pray silently).

3) Go for a Stroll, grab a drink, or simply sunbathe on Unawatuna beach. (I don't have any pictures of this beach, so enjoy a photo of Bentota beach instead!) Though Unawatuna beach is lively and the area is bustlin', I must admit, Bentota beach is still currently my favourite one I explored so far.

4) Visit the Galle Lightouse. A beautiful spot for photos and a really cool place to spend the day.

5) Visit the Galle Cricket Stadium - Even if your'e not a cricket fan, go and explore the grounds. Take lots of photos just like I did!, I must admit, it was fun!

6) Visit the Galle Museum. Unfortunately, the museum was closed when we got there, but it would have been nice to visit considering it is so close to everything else.

7) Visit a Sri Lankan bakery or coffee shops for a light tasty, snack or brunch. We visited Shan Bakers and Pastry and the food was nice. We had chicken hotdogs which were quite big, and a good value for the size. The Coffee was ridiculously small, but nevertheless, it did the trick!

8) Spend the day shopping in Unawatuna Town. There are plenty of restaurants, clothes stores, salons, and so much more. Why not spend the day exploring this charming city.

If you're not sure if Galle is for you, why not book one of our favourite trips in Bentota!
