Central Cafe and Amal Villa | Food Review

During my time spent in Sri Lanka, I must say, I fell in love with One Galle Face Mall. It felt like I was in Westfield! We visited One Galle Face Mall on two separate occasions and enjoyed some really good food and hot drinks.
We weren't particularly looking for restaurants or cafe's with the best reviews, but being the brits that we are - we were desperate for a good cup of tea and coffee!
We stumbled across this fabulous cafe, which reminded me of the famous T.V Sitcom 'Friends'. With hues of blue and pink, this fabulous, fun, and chic cafe is the place to go.
Drinks Review at Central Cafe
Central cafe offer exquisite coffee and a selection of sweet treats. We ordered a selection of hot drinks including hot chocolate, a flat white coffee and a latte, and we were given a free shortbread biscuit to enjoy with our hot drink which was great.
My son enjoyed a rich and indulgent hot chocolate, which was enough to put anyone to sleep! The waiters and waitresses offered good customer service and the cafe has an overall friendly, chilled, and laid back vibe.
Halfway through our hot drinks, we noticed there was a restaurant at the back of the cafe. The food looked delicious, but we were looking for something a bit more specific (Hoppers and Mutton rolls) that were not available.
Central cafe is a part of the Shangri-La Hotel which is also placed inside the mall.
The aesthetic in this cafe is phenomenal, and I wished we had taken some photos. We were informed by the security guard at the front of the mall that no pictures were allowed, so we were a little sceptical.
Although we didn't order any food, we watched dish after dish come from the restaurant at the back, and I must admit- everything looked like a photo! Presentation skills were A1 and I'm sure upon our next return, we will surely try lunch or dinner. We're not affiliated with this cafe, but if your not convinced on how fabulous it is, check it out for yourself!
Nevertheless, we managed to snag a few photos of our delicious hot drinks!
Overall, we had a wonderful time at Central cafe and would definitely recommend and return!
Amal Villa Restaurant | Food Review
Later that evening, we decided to go out for dinner, but we desired to try somewhere new. We met a tuk-tuk driver outside our hotel, and we asked him to recommend a good restaurant to us. We were eager to see if he would recommend somewhere we hadn't yet been.
We left it up to him to surprise us, and a little later, he took us to a restaurant which I believe may be part of the Amal Villa Hotel. Our restaurant was called Amal Villa.
We ordered the chicken biryani, vegetable biryani, and the Calamari dish.
The food was delicious, and the evening was wonderful. We were invited to go for a stroll on the beach, but we decided to sit and wait for our food instead. We enjoyed a really lovely evening, and met some very sweet people. At Amal Villa, this was one of our favourite meals during our stay in Bentota.
Among many, this was one of our favourite nights out! If you're visiting Bentota, there are so many restaurants to try, but don't be afraid to ask for recommendations! After having dinner at Amal Villa Restaurant, we wished we had tried out the hotel and stayed a night!
